FACTORY GUIDE

Beanies: a buyer's manufacturing guide

Custom beanies and knitted hats

Beanies are one of the highest-margin and most logo-friendly winter headwear lines. Gazelle develops custom knitted and fleece beanies for apparel brands, workwear, sports and promotion, controlling yarn, gauge, knit structure, cuff and turn-up, pom and label placement so the beanie has the intended hand-feel and slouch rather than a generic thin knit.

Knit structure and yarn

We specify yarn composition (acrylic, wool, wool-acrylic blends, cotton and recycled yarns), gauge and knit structure — rib, fisherman, jersey, waffle and jacquard. Weight ranges from lightweight promotional knits to heavy cuffed and sherpa/fleece-lined cold-weather builds. Slouch, fitted and cuffed silhouettes are approved on a sample.

Cuff, pom and components

Options include folded cuffs with generous embroidery space, removable or fixed faux-fur and yarn poms, top buttons, woven and leather labels, and fleece or jersey linings. Pom material and attachment are confirmed for destination-market standards, and lining adds warmth without bulk.

Decoration

Beanies support woven and leather/cloth patches, cuff embroidery, jacquard-knit logos (the premium durable option), rubber/silicone badges and metal tags. Jacquard knits the brand into the structure so it cannot peel or fray, ideal for repeat winter lines.

MOQ, sampling and lead time

Custom beanie MOQ commonly starts around 100–150 pieces per colour for embroidery/label styles; jacquard-knit logos generally require a higher MOQ and knitting setup, confirmed at quotation. Samples confirm gauge, weight and cuff, and lead time is planned ahead of winter.

Who custom beanies are for

Apparel and streetwear brands, workwear and uniform buyers, ski and outdoor brands, sports teams, promotional distributors and online sellers running seasonal private-label lines.

Frequently asked questions about custom beanies

Embroidered or jacquard beanie?

Embroidery is applied to a cuff; jacquard knits the logo into the fabric for a premium look that cannot peel, usually at a higher MOQ.

Can you add a pom or fleece lining?

Yes — fixed or removable poms and fleece/jersey linings are confirmed on the sample.

What yarns are available?

Acrylic, wool, wool blends, cotton and recycled yarns in various gauges and structures.

What is the MOQ?

Around 100–150 pieces per colour for embroidered/label beanies; jacquard generally needs more due to knit setup.

Are heavy cold-weather beanies available?

Yes — heavy cuffed, sherpa and fleece-lined builds provide higher warmth.
